Got a breakfast here whilst having a look around :) I appreciate the menu for this cafe and how it does try to step out of the bounds of typical cafe, and to no fault of its own, doesn’t really fit typically what I tend to lean towards. Interesting list of coffees with a few new things to try ; I ordered the black sesame latte. Very cute setup - clean and minimalist. Got the big breakfast which was good ! Portion sizes was also big but not overwhelming, a genuinely good amount of food (especially with the title ‘big’).
I got the big breakfast. Delicious. The staff were really friendly and the owner was there to offer any advice and background on his chosen suppliers etc but not over the top and pushy, really chill vibes and a great spot to visit while in the area.
Lēoth is a minimally decorated space that has redesigned interiors from scratch. There is even plates and cups made specially for the café by a local potter and you can buy pieces. They are really beautiful. Other design features - like lampshades - are made by local artisans. The menu offers a variety of dishes for breakfast / brunch / lunch slightly different to other places in the neighborhood. And food is plated quite attractively. There seems to be a lot of attention to detail for how everything looks and a peaceful environment. When there, it wasn't really busy. I waited for the longest time for my matcha. And while it sat on the counter, the delay was even longer while the barista carried on gossiping to the server. That was a pity cause hearing that on the floor isn't really a vibe. However the team seemed to know all their regulars and would say hello. The food was nice - not overly sweet waffles, on point poached eggs, great hot chocolate. And food on other customers plates was tempting. There is one thing though which is going to seem really picky, but for a place to invest so much on an eye for detail and bespoke items, they had dupe Laguiole cutlery. It really seemed out of place.
Came for breakfast for 2. Environment 1. Nice hole in the wall in a vintage building in Battery Point. 2. Pleasing decor with internal and external seating. 3. Can get busy so plan ahead. Not sure if they do reservations. Food and drink 1. Good food presentation. 2. Got the cornbread and the olive bread. Cornbread can be spicy, so beware. Otherwise was good Olive bread was so so. The herb salad that came with it was a sprinkle of mint, parsley and fennel leaves. The dish came with eggs that looked like they were meant to be poached but appeared mixed (poached, uncooked, semi-hard) in their degree of done-ness when consumed. Eggs still had cooking water which was disappointing. 3. Had the "coffee with cream". The price to volume ratio was very disappointing. TLDR: It was good but some things pulled the experience down.
Visiting for the weekend and came across this place. The vibes, service and atmosphere was delightful. Staff were friendly, gave us great recommendations and overall 5 star. The food and coffee was outstanding. All fresh produce and scrambled eggs made to perfection. Definitely a must visit if in Hobart.
