Great spot. Incredible food and decent service. We stopped in at this diner for a family feed. We all absolutely loved the old school diner food and it was all reasonably priced. I had the Portside chicken club and it was enormous... Enough to feed my daughter and I. Chips were cooked great. Chicken was moist and fresh. Lots of flavour. It's very old school inside but still lacks a bit of atmosphere. I've seen old school diner themed places up the ante with little touches and I just felt this place was missing something in that department.... The little touches that Greg and Audrey's had when they got popular. Maybe music (I can't recall any 50s or 60s diner music - if it was there, it was quiet). Despite the atmosphere, we all really enjoyed our meal and the service was great. Very friendly and warm. It gives a really "local" feel - like everyone is welcome and I love that.
Discovered the Fairmont today and will absolutely be back. We came for brunch and were blown away by the quality of the food which was also presented beautifully. Best smashed avo Iโve ever had. The staff were a delight too.
This must be my fifth time back at Fairmont Diner, and I can tell you it's just as good as the first. Itโs become my go-to spot in Newy for a reason. The first thing that still gets me is that they take their coffee seriously. Using ST. ALi beans isn't a gimmick; my flat white is consistently on point every single time I'm here, and that alone is worth the visit. Iโm a creature of habit, bacon and egg rolls is my thing, I love it and they do a really good one. But after seeing the miso mushrooms and the breakfast burrito go past my table so many times, I know the whole kitchen is operating at a high level and that's ok my list next. What really stands out after a few visits, especially from my hospitality background, is the consistency. It doesn't matter if it's a quiet weekday or if they're slammed on a Saturday morning, the staff are always friendly, efficient, and on the ball. You can just tell it's a well-run operation. Itโs definitely not a secret anymore, so if you come at a peak time, expect a bit of a line. But trust me, itโs worth the wait every time. Hands-down my most reliable spot for a top-tier breakfast in Newcastle. Get the hotcakes, get some eggs, bacon - heck whatever you want. Oh and try the Hells Horses hot sauce with them eggs, trust me. Great service, great coffee, great food.
Accidently stumbled across this diner and had a sumptuous breakfast. Also ordered two coffee which were very tasty. The inside of the diner was a little retro and the credenza was as nice little addition for the cakes. We ordered a home Made muffin to take home which we have enjoyed with afternoon tea. Highly recommended. Easy to find on the corner near intersection of two roads. We are not from the are so donโt know the name of the streets.
Friendly service. Good coffee. Best Banana bread Iโve had in a while. Cool atmosphere with some sweet tunes playing. It captures that old school, small town American diner vibe better than any diner Iโve been to in the US ๐
