Charming friendly space with good food in great portions! The food feels almost home cooked with its generous sizes, familiar flavours and healthy taste, its our regular go to spot. Itโs also really great for kids, so many inner west cafes arenโt set up for children but Ivy makes it an incredibly welcoming space!
I ordered a "Big Breakfast" over menulog, which is similar to uber eats. I'd never ordered from this cafรฉ before, but I've ordered plenty of big breakfasts from local cafes in my area This one arrived perfectly hot, with the hash brown super crispy & in the same paper bag as the two slices of sourdough so it wouldn't get soggy which it would have were it shoved in with rest of the breakfast under a lid like so many other places do it Then I saw the Big Breakfast ingredients were in a bento box, well diced and prepped mushrooms in their own corner, tomatoes in theirs, wilted spinach in theirs, and scrambled eggs as the main show with delicately spaced sprigs of greens across the top, along with bacon and chorizo finally in their own corner I realised this was the best big breakfast I've ever ordered purely on aesthetics and practicality alone Then I dove in to eat and the flavours and textures were amazing, everything sung! But the most surprising element was the chorizo, where so many big breakfasts include an overly salty fatty lowkey kinda gross sausage that's sliced up, this one was light and full of flavour but without making you feel like you committed a crime against your heart health by simply taking a bite I've ordered 7 or 8 different big breakfasts in my area in Marrickville & Dulwich Hill over the years and this big breakfast is the best I've ever had in presentation, texture, and flavour So if you've made it this far, and you want a truly great big breakfast, well what are you waiting for?
Coffee was excellent. Food was good; good portion, well priced. Their table water is exceptional! Whatever filtration they use for their water is fantastic! Nice and cold/icy water. The 4-stars is for the wait time it took for our order of the bulgogi rice and the pancakes; which took just over 30 minutes! Too long.
An Inner West gem! I highly recommend the Bulgogi Bowl. Firstly, thereโs sweet strips of Korean-style beef with mushroom. It has a lovely barbecue taste. Secondly, thereโs Japanese-style rice, sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds. The rice appears firm but it has a light and fluffy texture upon eating, and it tastes delectable. Thirdly, thereโs a crisp, fresh salad, with a tangy dressing. Also, if you get the optional fried egg, it gives the dish a simple but decadent element by letting you combine egg yolk with the rice; a delicious combination. Tasty, healthy and reasonably priced, itโs my go-to comfort food. Their juices are tasty and refreshing and itโs difficult to resist their various baked goods and sweets. Their English Breakfast and Earl Grey teas are carefully brewed with tea leaves, rather than tea bags, which is perfect for we tea enthusiasts. The English Breakfast is my favourite Inner West cuppa.
Great food and friendly service great coffee A bid of shady crowd sit there outside without ordering for too long and speak loud and make it uncomfortable for others but the staff tolerate them. Not the business fault but it affects the environment - I went based on review and the food was good next time Iโll sit inside though!
