Wanted a good celebration dinner after a long week. We were hungry, and wanted to enjoy the ferry to Manly. I found this place right before we got off boat. Walked up and were not too impressed with the smallish menu, but we went ahead but felt maybe a sampling of all would help. We ordered the Premium Banquet for 5 people. The waitress was lovely. She had good banter with my friends and was helpful with me in choosing a drink. With the cost of the premium banquet we honestly were NOT prepared for what came out. We really thought it would be lacking. It was PHENOMENAL! The presentation, flavors, quality and quantity above exceeded all of our expectations. The chef did an amazing job, seriouslyโฆI want to come back here everytime I return to Australia. For a Thursday night we were so happy to have a nice quiet dinner. No crowds, no excessively loud music. It was the perfect atmosphere for us to decompress and enjoy each otherโs company.
Great little spot for a Japanese style feed and drinks. Lots of stuff from the 4 Pines Brewery as expected, as well as decent food and snacks. The miso eggplant and gobou chips were good.
We (two humans and a dog) thoroughly enjoyed our night out! Needless to say beer is always fantastic but the cocktails were great, too. The food is authentic izakaya offering, not some fusion pretending to be Japanese. Highly recommended!
Fantastic food the barramundi was delicious and the eggplant perfect not too saucy. Wish I had taken some photos now but it was so nice I forgot. Presentation with the lotus chips was lovely. Will be back again as would love to try the premium banquet. Burlesque very entertaining nice to see something different on a Thursday night
Really lovely evening with my daughter and my (almost) son-in-law. I can endorse all the positive comments about Aaron. He was very attentive. The food flavours were beautiful. If you have read other reviews, I would describe the flavours as subtle. These days unless the food burns through your oesophagus, people whine about it. If you want to burn off your tastebuds, donโt come here. But if you enjoy the subtlety of excellent food, you will love this place. The Pork Katsu was unbelievable! The Miso Eggplant is quite possibly the best egg plant dish I have ever eaten. Kaarage Fried Chicken was as good as you could desire. Lived up to my dreams! It was so good I forgot to take a photo โฆ and then it was gone! Yum. The Wagyu Beef Tataki wasnโt as good as the hype. It was nice but I preferred other dishes. The Lotus Roots Chips were a good filler but the wasabi was too mild. The Edamame was nice. Much more mild than some I have eaten but also not too salty which can be a problem. The Pork belly was delicious. Not fatty. Not tough. And not drowning in sauce. Well balanced and one of my favourite three dishes for tonight. The Salmon Sashimi & Avocado Taco was too subtle for me (perhaps bland). I will not get it again but there are lots of other great choices. Overall, excellent experience for those who have discerning tastes. Subtle is the key.
